Inspired by the unique “Agent Unicorn” headpiece from Fashion-Technology-Artist Anouk Wipprecht (Read the interview with Anouk on our g.tec blog), this hackathon challenges young geeks to design and build a unique, playful and wearable headpiece which is able to measure useful EEG signals in real-time to create any sort of interaction. With the intended purpose in mind, the teams plan and produce their own fully functional headpiece. 3D printers are on-site, so the teams will be able to give their headpieces an individual design that fits on participants’ head.
The goal of this hackathon is to bring people of different professions together, such as engineers, programmers or graphic designers. As an interdisciplinary team, they learn from each other and merge well established hardware and software in order to create a new, innovative and exceptional idea. The participation only requires basic knowledge in Brain-Computer Interfaces, machine learning, programming, signal processing or designing.

16-18 October 2017, Tallinn, Estonia
'Health in the Digital Society. Digital Society for Health' is organised by the Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs as part of Estonia’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, ECHAlliance and HIMSS Europe.
The high-level conference will address how digital technologies and the wider use of health data are changing our lives and the ways of healthcare. Through a combination of educational sessions, interactive workshops and valuable networking opportunities, the conference will not only showcase already existing digital health solutions, but also use-cases and technologies to demonstrate that citizen-centric health services and systems are genuinely valuable.
European healthcare IT leaders and professionals will gather in Tallinn from 16-18 October 2017. The conference will focus on three main topics:
- Building citizen-driven demand in eHealth
- eHealth supporting the value driven and sustainable health and social services
- eHealth as a driver of innovation and economic development

eHealth Summit Austria, HIMSS
23-24th May 2017, Vienna Austria, see the event homepage.
Technikum Wien is represented in the Program Committee, in the Scientific Program Comittee, we will present there, and bring a bus full of students there! This is one of the main events of each year for our research group.
The main task this year is to bring together the Personal Connected Health Alliance (PCHA) European Summit and the Austrian eHealth Summit. Both events happen in the same week at the same place, and have a lot to discuss!
In addition to EHRs one focus will be on mHealth, personal health, with telemonitoring as an important application.
Arden Syntax Training Course @ Technikum Wien
22.5.2017, Vienna, Austria
Free of charge! Arden syntax enables the development of decision support tools for clinical practice. the company Medexter, which provides this course, is one of the leading providers in this field. Medexter is a spinoff of Medical University of Vienna, www.medexter.com
Tutorial on Fuzzy control and fuzzy automata with Fuzzy Arden Syntax
As many of you know, the Arden Syntax v2.9 contains constructs to extend the knowledge representation and processing capability of Arden Syntax by fuzzy methodologies.
Thus, linguistic and propositional uncertainty of clinical concepts and their relationships between them can be expressed and processed. This gives the Arden Syntax a cutting-edge advantage and uniqueness; and sometimes we call this syntax Fuzzy Arden Syntax.
Formal methods to do so originate in fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic, which are generalizations of classical set theory and classical propositional logic. ... And, more or less unknown, Fuzzy Arden Syntax allows for the definition of fuzzy control systems (the calculation of optimal device settings) and fuzzy automata (implementing clinical monitoring systems).
